How To Choose Based On Your Body

I’ve taught students of every size, shape, and flexibility level. One pair doesn’t work for everyone.

Washing And Care

I ruined two pairs of expensive leggings before I learned this. Here’s what I tell my students.

Wash cold. Hot water breaks down the elastic. I wash everything on cold, gentle cycle. Use a mesh laundry bag if you have one. It prevents pilling and snags.

No fabric softener. Fabric softener coats the fibers and reduces moisture-wicking. Your pants will hold sweat longer. Your skin will feel clammy. Just don’t.

Air dry. The dryer is the enemy of elastic. I hang my pants over a drying rack. They dry overnight. If you must use a dryer, use low heat and take them out while they’re still slightly damp.

Wash after every hot class. Sweat contains salt and bacteria that break down fabric over time. I wash my hot yoga pants after every use. My vinyasa and restorative pants get two to three wears before washing.

A Note On Budget

I get asked about cheap yoga pants every week. Students see $15 leggings on Amazon and wonder if they work.
